Let’s engage in a little experiment. I’m going to list a few big name companies, and try to notice the first thing that comes to mind.
Apple. Coca-Cola. Target.
More than likely, you just partook in an advertiser’s dream … brand recall. Perhaps, you envisioned the Apple logo or that crisp red bull’s-eye.
Or even better, you thought of a product like an iPod or a brilliant red can of Coca-Cola.
This is the power of good branding.
Granted, the above companies have millions of dollars to spend on advertising and reinforcing their corporate identity - BUT that doesn’t mean that today’s small business can’t strive for brand recall … and achieve it!
The key is to spend some time really analyzing who you are and what your company does. Look at your audience and industry and find a way to set yourself apart from the rest. If you don’t have a corporate mantra or mission statement, make one. And then try to find a way to bring that to life in your logo, marketing materials, and website. The easiest way to accomplish that is to work with a professional and discuss the ideology of your business and what you want your audience to take away from your corporate identity.
One of our recent branding endeavors involved an entire re-branding campaign for Klein Hersh International, one of the top executive recruiting offices in the MRINetwork. Due to an upcoming name change, Klein Hersh was ready to completely reinvent their brand identity and chose sticky IT to make that happen.
We strived to craft a logo that would represent their organization: upscale, modern, and slick yet approachable and friendly. By using the logo as a starting point, we were then able to craft a powerful color palette and identify an imagery concept to be used throughout their new brand. From there, unity was achieved as the new brand was then woven into their website and other marketing mediums such as business cards, stationary, announcements & other collateral materials. To see examples of their new brand, please visit our portfolio to learn more.
The key is repetition. Everything you have – your website, brochures, marketing materials and products - should all be working in tandem to relay your brand.
Be consistent in your look whenever possible right on down to color schemes, fonts and even familiar graphics. Everything you do should incorporate your logo and your web address for reinforcement. Over time, these small efforts will pay off.
